Barbiecore

It’s whimsy, it’s girly, it’s irreverent, and it’s very very hot pink.

I’m talking Saturated PINK. Move over dopamine dressing - BARBIECORE is coming for the top spot. Monochromatic maximalism at its finest.

Yes, yes I know… monochrome neutrals are everywhere but I’m telling you, Barbiecore is coming… and it’s coming for us all. I’d guess towards the end of next year’s summer season or Spring/Summer 2024, even the bridal industry will be touched by Barbiecore.

Trends start big and conceptual and then will always disseminate into more wearable or ‘experienceable’ trends that the wider public has access to and will actually wear.

Remember that scene from The Devil Wears Prada?? You know the one…. it’s actually cerulean. While it sounds ridiculous and out of touch with reality there is some truth to it. Try it yourself, keep this bright flash pink in the back of your mind and I can promise you’ll start seeing it everywhere over the next 12 months.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Barbiecore has roots in the hyper-femminine trends of the late 90s and early 2000’s. And we all know from a quick glance around - the 90s and early aughts has captured our interest once again.

So how to we embrace this fun new trend into the beauty space?? Oh let me count the ways my friends!!

The Lip & Cheek combo. Keep the color focused in only these two areas with either the lip or cheek stealing the show. Pop on a fluo lip and add a super blown out pink blush.

Key notes to remember - bright pops of pinks, fresh dewy clean skin, glowing highlights, super groomed brows

Another idea, Pink Pops. As in pink pops of color placed is hyper specific areas.
The eyes specifically - the inner eye, in eye liner, Be sure to use all blushie nudes everywhere else on the face.

It’s all about finding the balance. If you’re planning on having a statement outfit, keep your barbiecore inspired makeup lighter - by focusing on very light fresh, glowy complexions, super groomed brows and lashes and a touch of bright juicy blush on the cheeks.

And if you happen to be more minimal and reserved in your fit, push your beauty further into the Barbiecore world. Think bright pops of color on the lips and cheeks or a statement creative eye. Don’t feel like you have to wear all the pink at one time!

If you’re looking to incorporate the Barbiecore trend into your bridal beauty, try the ‘blush draping’ technique, which if we’re being honest has been around since the 80s. This technique will find you placing your blush super high on your cheekbones, about the same spot as your highlighter and blending out from there. If you’re feeling adventurous, push that blend into your outer eye area a bit.

And to be completely honest, I write this wearing a full ass, bright pink lipstick and opaque pink sparkles on every single one of my 10 nails. I did not plan this.
These items simply presented themselves at different times in the past 48 hours and I simply consumed them.

See it’s happening all ready… and I’m cool with it because BARBIECORE is it.
